Ebay and GSI - What it Means for E-commerce and Small Business

The acquisition of GSI by Ebay may not appear to mean much to those of us toiling in the trenches of smaller e-commerce businesses given the size and scale of each entity but it’s important for small business owners to read between the lines and take some lessons from watching these giants. What does it mean?

1. Multichannel approaches are here to stay and will in the long run.  E-commerce businesses on their own will struggle to succeed while businesses that have brick and mortar, online, and multichannel marketing approaches will win.

2. Look to these giants and the businesses they own for the latest and greatest in tools, processes, software, and general knowledge that can help your business. 

3. Within the world of “multichannel” consider approaches where even you as a much smaller business test channels like Ebay - maybe your established business needs an Outlet Store for one line of products that could use access to millions and millions of eyeballs? Ebay is worth considering.
